About: I see myself as an instrument of change for the better in this South Africa. I am an ultimate patriot of this country and I believe in its people, its resources and what can we can achieve if we work together to make a valuable contribution to its economic development.
One of my biggest hates in my tenure at the so-called former Model C schools of the early 90’s was the lack of career guidance as a subject to help guide the students to careers they may choose based on their strengths and interests. Schools were under pressure at the time to prove that they could teach and manage a flood of students received from previously disadvantaged backgrounds by means of shining matric pass rates. This resulted in Standard Grade being put on the pedestal for students when it came to choosing subjects they would take into to matric. I fell victim to that scam and this instantly lessened my chances of getting into prestigious institutions of higher learning like Wits University and University of Cape Town.
Over time I endeavoured to change this by doing my best in education, life and in my finances. I developed a different propensity to achieve the best marks and came a few points short of attaining my qualification Cum Laude in the end. This was defining moment for me that hard work and resilience pays off in the end and that I am the master of my own destiny.
You have to constantly find new ways of doing things in this ever changing macro-economic environment so that you can deliver the greatest value in what you do. I WILL change this country – one child at a time.
Albert Einstein says it best, “Problems cannot be solved by the same level of thinking that created them.”
